Minister Of Social Affairs: Management Of 3T Regions Regulated In Law of Poverty

JAKARTA - The Minister of Social Affairs (Mesnsos) Tri Rismaharini emphasized that the handling of problems in the 3T (frontier, outermost, lagging) areas carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs has been regulated in Law Number 13 of 2011 concerning the Poverty.

"So dear friends, regarding the empowerment, I ask the same from Bappenas and it's in the Law concerning Poverty, we can handle it entirely. But it's true the areas that can't afford it, the 3T areas are the outermost, frontier, lagging behind. We can handle it there in the law," she said when met by media crew in Tarakan, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Wednesday, January 25, as reported by Antara.

She said community empowerment programs in 3T areas could be carried out as long as the poverty factor existed in those areas.

The Minister of Social Affairs said that her duties were in accordance with her main duties and functions, namely helping development in areas that have budget difficulties, for example building a school in Majene, West Sulawesi which had collapsed on condition that the local government did not have a budget.

"So when I said, I want empowerment, can the Ministry of Social Affairs? Yes, as long as it's for the poor," she said.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also helps the Gunung Kidul area, DIY which is always experiencing drought by channeling clean water from a water source that comes from a cave with a flow length of 10 kilometers to residential areas.

As a result, areas that have been experiencing drought are now fertile again. Communities can replant seeds in their homes. This has been mandated to her since she became Minister of Social Affairs.

She also wishes to come directly to deal with problems on Sebatik Island, North Kalimantan, which need clarification.

The Ministry of Social Affairs is also helping to solve clean water problems in the Sembakung area, Nunukan, North Kalimantan, while recently in Cilincing, North Jakarta.

For the provision of assistance, Minister of Social Affairs Risma said that the regional government provided data on the poor to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

However, if a natural disaster occurs, she will make a decision letter (SK) so that her party can submit and record directly people who become poor and lose their homes.

"That house is destroyed, what about the person? I will take the initiative to propose to local government. So that the person can be helped immediately," he stated.
