This Baby Was Born In The Sky On Emirates Flight Narita - Dubai

JAKARTA - An Emirates flight from Tokyo Narita to Dubai International landed with an extra passenger on board. One of the passengers gave birth while the plane was still in the air.

It happened on January 19 on flight EK 319. There was no delay in arrival even though it was a medical emergency, the airline confirmed as reported by CNN, Wednesday, January 25.

Passengers and infants are assisted by Emirates cabin crew, all of whom receive medical response training. So they can handle situations like the birth of a baby or a heart attack.

Emirates said the parents and baby were in stable condition. Once in Dubai, they were greeted by local medical staff.

"The health and safety of our crew and passengers are the most important," the airline said.

Births on airplanes are relatively rare. Emirates' policy regarding pregnant travelers is similar to that of many other commercial airlines: Travelers can fly up to the seventh month of pregnancy unless they have medical complications or concerns.
