The Bomb Fired 3 Meters From The Papuan Journalists' House, AJI, The District Attorney's Office For Immunization Of The Press Freedom Threats

JAKARTA - Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) condemns the alleged intimidation of journalists in Papua Victor Mambor. AJI asked the police to investigate what happened to Vicktor because it was considered threatening press freedom in Papua.

The Vicktor, who is the General Leader of Tabloid Jubi Papua, received a bomb terror that exploded approximately 3 meters from his residence in Angkasapura Village, North Jayapura District, Jayapura City, Papua.

"AJI Jayapura asked the Papua Regional Police and the Jayapura City Police to thoroughly investigate the perpetrators and the motive behind the bomb terror that hit Victor Mambor," said AJI's official statement, quoted from his Twitter account, @AJIIndonesia, Tuesday, January 24.

AJI also invited Papuan journalists not to neglect each other and not to be afraid in informing the public about the news and news.

"AJI Jayapura invites all journalists in Papua not to back down to voice the truth in the midst of various obstacles. Fiat Justitia Ruat Caelum, which means that justice should be upheld even though the sky will collapse," the statement continued.

Previously, a bomb exploded not far from the walls of the residence of journalist Vicktor Mambor in Jayapura City, Papua on Monday, January 23 at around 04.00 WIT.

To AJI, Victor said that at the time of the incident he had not rested. He claimed to have heard the sound of a motorbike stopping on the road right next to his house before the explosion occurred. Shortly after, the motorcyclist left the location and about a minute there was an explosion.

The sound of this explosion not only shocked Victor and his family. A number of local residents in the settlement complex also had time to leave their homes to inspect the location of the explosion source. Initially, Victor thought the sound was sourced from an explosioning power substation.

"When the explosion occurred, the walls of the house shook like an earthquake. I also examined the source of the explosion and smelled sulfur coming from beside the house. It turned out that there were traces of explosions on the road which were only three meters from the walls of the house," said Victor.

As for the evidence of CCTV camera footage installed in one part of Victor's house. A Honda motorbike was seen crossing the side of his house before the explosion occurred.

"The 2022 Udin Award winner has reported the incident to the Jayapura City Police. Jayapura City Police investigators have also processed the scene of the case, taken information from Victor and secured evidence in the form of axes and other materials left over from the bomb explosion at 9 WIT," said AJI's statement.
