JAKARTA - The Cianjur Regency Government has issued a Decree (SK) for the Cianjur Regent regarding the number of houses damaged by the earthquake. Referring to the BNPB data collection results, 71,898 housing units will receive government assistance.

The Regent of Cianjur, Herman Suherman, has received the results of the data collection conducted by BNPB in less than three months and will then issue a Decree for the Regent of Cianjur, to be submitted back to BNPB for the follow-up to the Ministry of Finance.

"Today, we are completing the drafting of a decree which will then be brought back by BNPB to the Ministry of Finance to be disbursed immediately to affected residents", Herman said as quoted by Antara, Monday, January 16.

He hoped that the assistance funds from the central government for the earthquake victims would be disbursed soon so that residents could rebuild their homes, but his party urged residents to choose development independently or through a third party appointed by the central government.

Because rebuilding people's houses must be earthquake-resistant as a precaution when an earthquake occurs again, their houses will survive because they are by the construction recommended by the government.

"Please feel free to build it yourself or use the services of a third party that has been appointed by the central government, but the important thing is that the construction must be earthquake-resistant, so that in the future when an earthquake occurs there will be no more buildings that will collapse", he said.

Herman added, for residents who have not been recorded or proposed changes to the latest condition of the house, the government can still serve them by reporting to the village apparatus or the liaison service for immediate follow-up.

"During the first earthquake, the condition of the house was slightly damaged, but after several aftershocks, the damage was moderate or severe. Please report it to village officials, Babinsa or Bhabinkamtimbas, and the liaison service, so that data collection can be carried out again", he said.
