GARUT - The Garut District Health Office (Dinkes) noted cases of children poisoned by Chiki Ngebul snacks found in a number of areas in West Java (West Java).

"Tasikmalaya Regency has 24 people, where one person has been referred and the other has symptoms but can be treated, then in Bekasi, there are four people, one of whom must receive special treatment," said the Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the District Health Office Garut, Asep Surachman via written statement, Thursday 12 January, confiscated by Antara.

According to him, in Garut, no cases of Chiki Ngebul poisoning have been found. Even though there has been no report regarding the case due to the child's snacks, Asep said he is continuing to monitor the community.

Asep explained, Chiki Ngebul's product contained "ice smoke" which contained nitrogen mixed with food, causing smoke to attract children's attention.

However, the smoke generated from nitrogen substances, he said, would affect the respiratory tract. Like, he said, causing symptoms of nausea, vomiting, throat irritation, to stomach problems.

"Because of the cold effect, if this nitrogen substance is eaten or consumed by children or individuals, there will be a cold effect on the throat, and if this happens it will be disturbing. Furthermore, the body's response to it is shocked," he said.

Asep hopes that people who sell children's snacks will not use excess nitrogen from the specified threshold because it will endanger human health.

In addition, he appealed to the public, especially parents and schools to provide supervision or monitoring of snacks that are popular with children.

"From the side of the schools or parties from the residents, parents, students themselves, or on campus, they must also monitor the supervision of snacks in each public snack place," he said.
