JAKARTA - The National Police used helicopters to distribute aid to victims of the Cianjur earthquake in West Java. Assistance targets isolated communities because access to the location is difficult to reach by land.

The Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General (Irjen) Pol Dedi Prasetyo, said that logistical assistance was distributed to Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency, which was quite severely affected.

"Today the National Police again assists isolated villages, which cannot be accessed because the roads are cut off. Even today, it is quite difficult to provide helicopters to land a helicopter there", he said, quoted from Antara.

He said that the assistance provided was in the form of 40 boxes of instant noodles, 10 boxes of mineral water, 11 packs of tarpaulins, 200 packs of biscuits, and 50 boxes of blankets. "The National Police together with other stakeholders will continue to strive to meet the needs of all refugees, especially in isolated places", he said.

In addition to assisting, he said, the National Police SAR team also monitors isolated areas in the highlands by air. "The joint team will also continue to try to reach isolated locations to evacuate the victims", he said.

The National Police Headquarters sent high-ranking officers to directly monitor the distribution of aid in isolated areas. The monitoring was carried out by the Karomultimedia of the Public Relations Division of the Police, Brigadier General of Police Gatot Repli Handoko, and the Head of the Operations Control Bureau for Sops Police, Brigadier General of Police Endi Sutendi.
