Alfamart Cianjur Central Warehouse Damaged Due to M 5.6 Earthquake, Several Employees Injured

JAKARTA - An earthquake of magnitude (M) 5.6 shook Cianjur, West Java, Monday, November 21. As a result, Alfamart's central warehouse in the Cianjur area was damaged.

The tremors of the earthquake caused the roof of the two-story building to collapse. Some office walls made of partitions were also broken.

There were also fallen chairs and paperwork scattered on the floor along with the broken roof.

Meanwhile, in another corner, a roof over a meter long hit the chairs.

There were no casualties in that incident. Only several employees who were in the warehouse suffered minor injuries.

"There is no office, the warehouse [warehouse] is injured", said Hani, one of the employees to VOI, Monday, November 21.

According to the information gathered, when the earthquake occurred, all employees in the building rushed to the exit.

The employees panicked to save themselves. Activities at the building, which is located at Ciendeur Village, Warung Kondang, Cianjur, have stopped.

After the situation was conducive, several employees entered the building to check the condition of the Alfamart Cianjur office and warehouse buildings.

Based on a report from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), nine subsequent earthquakes occurred after the first earthquake at 13.21 WIB.

However, the BMKG confirmed that the earthquake, which was centered 10 kilometers southwest of Cianjur Regency, did not have the potential for a tsunami.
