Jepara Police Reveals 13 Drug Cases During the Last 3 Months, Including Antidepressant Pills Targeting Young People

CENTRAL JAVA - Jepara Police revealed 13 cases of drug abuse by arresting 15 suspects from August to October 2022.

"Meanwhile, the evidence that was secured was methamphetamine weighing 9.02 grams and 40,015 pills of psychotropic substances", said Jepara Police Chief, AKBP Warsono, at the Jepara Police Headquarters, Central Java, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 31.

He explained that six cases were revealed in August 2022. From the disclosure, six suspects and evidence in the form of 3.19 grams of methamphetamine and 1,615 psychotropic drugs were secured.

Meanwhile, in September and October, two cases and five cases were revealed, respectively. The amount of evidence in September 2022 was 1 gram of methamphetamine and 38,400 pills of illegal drugs with two suspects.

Then, he continued, in October there were seven suspects with 4.83 grams of crystal methamphetamine as evidence.

Narcotics Head AKP Noor Biyanto added that of the 13 suspects arrested, there were two drug case recidivists.

Meanwhile, related to the case of psychotropic drugs, is still under investigation, especially where the drugs were obtained.

"Information from the suspect, the pills bearing the Y logo or trihexyphenidyl and tramadol were purchased through electronic or online trading", he said.

Biyanto said that the target audience for selling tranquilizers or antidepressants was young people. The sales profit is quite large because one box containing 1,000 items can be sold for up to IDR 2 million.

Kilma, one of the suspects, admitted that he had circulated 20,000 pills bearing the Y logo with a selling price of IDR 30,000 for 10 pills.

For his actions, the perpetrators of drug abuse were charged with Article 114 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. Some have been charged with Article 197 in conjunction with Article 196 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 36 the Year 2009 concerning Health.
