COVID-19 Update as of October 19: 2,390 New Cases from Examination of 68,453 Specimens

JAKARTA - The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 68,453 specimens were examined with the result that there were 2,390 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,462,655 people and active cases have increased by 966 to 18,504 cases", said data from the COVID-19 Task Force, Wednesday, October 19.

Today's recovered cases increased by 1,408 people, bringing the total to 6,285,890 recovered. Then, the number of positive confirmed cases who died increased by 16 cases and the total was 158,361 people.

The province with the newest cases is DKI Jakarta with 891 cases and a total of 1,437,323 cases. Followed by West Java with 343 new cases with a total of 1,185,014 cases. East Java with 293 new cases and a total of 609,018 cases. Banten with 209 new cases and a total of 340,067 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 537 recovered cases. Followed by East Java with an additional 227 recovered cases, West Java with an additional 162 recovered cases, and Banten with an additional 111 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 109,807,776.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 6.25 percent", it wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was recorded at 4,436 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 205,055,891 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 171,728,936 people have received the second dose of vaccination.

While the third dose of vaccination was 64,636,490 people and the fourth dose was 654,271 people. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 234,666,020 people.
