Police Prank For Content, Baim Wong Threatened With 1 Year 4 Months In Prison

JAKARTA - Paula Verhoeven and Baim Wong are threatened with imprisonment for committing a 'prank' by submitting a false complaint of acts of domestic violence (KDRT) to the Kebayoran Lama Police.

"Saturday the first at around 4 pm, Paula came to make a report about domestic violence, it turned out that the report was for Baim's content, it turned out to be a prank," said Chief of the Kebayoran Lama Sector Police, Police Commissioner Febriman to reporters, Monday, October 1.

Even though the report had not yet been made, Paula had time to tell the chronology of domestic violence to the officers.

Febriman explained that every public report had to be followed up in accordance with the police standard operating procedure (SOP), so he regretted that the incident was for the sake of content.

According to him, currently, there has been a report by "Friends of the Police" as a legal lesson so that there is no longer harassment of government institutions in this case the police, and also provides a deterrent effect because they do 'pranks' only for the sake of content and benefit themselves.

Furthermore, Febriman said Baim Wong would be summoned regarding his motivation for doing the 'prank', currently, the file is complete at the South Jakarta Police.

Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeven are threatened with a sentence of one year and four months in accordance with Article 220 of the Criminal Code which reads:

"Whoever informs or complains that a criminal act has been committed, even though he knows that it has not been committed, is threatened with a maximum imprisonment of one year and four months."

In addition, both of them can also be subject to Article 317 of the Criminal Code regarding False Complaints or Complaints of Defamation, which are imposed on those who submit false complaints about people to law enforcement.
