MUI Conveys Deep Condolences To The Tragedy Of Malang Kanjuruhan Stadium

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council expresses its condolences and deep condolences for the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java, which claimed many lives.

"We express our condolences for the incident that happened to the victim in Kanjuruhan, Malang," said MUI Head Fatwa Asrorun Niam Sholeh as quoted by Antara, Sunday, October 2.

Asrorun Niam prays for the victim to get the best place by Allah and the family left behind will be given fortitude and patience.

MUI also invites all parties, especially Islamic organizations, to work hand in hand to provide assistance regarding the handling of corpses as well as possible.

"The rights of the bodies must be immediately fulfilled in accordance with religious provisions. For bodies that have not been identified, they can be immediately handled by syar'i," he said.

According to him, the central MUI has coordinated with the regional MUI to consolidate and provide support in handling victims.

"I have established intensive communication with the regional MUI and the leaders of Islamic organizations, including the leaders of Islamic boarding schools in Malang to be able to provide emergency services for handling victims, service for managing corpses," he said.

MUI also invites all parties to provide assistance for victims who are still alive to be rescued and handled as well as possible.

As of Sunday at 11.30 WIB, the victim who died due to a riot at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya, was recorded at 129 people.

The riot occurred after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya with a final score of 2-3 at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java, Saturday night, October 1.
