3 Drug Dealers Arrested By Majene Police, Had Smuggled 252.3 Grams Of Meth While Being TKI In Malaysia

WEST SULAWESI - Majene Police thwarted the circulation of 252.3 grams of methamphetamine. From the disclosure, three suspected traffickers were arrested.

"We managed to uncover a case of shabu-shabu narcotics abuse by seizing evidence as much as 252.3 grams of methamphetamine and arresting three perpetrators," said Majene Police Deputy Chief Commissioner Ujang Saputra in Majene, West Sulawesi (Sulbar), as quoted from Antara, Wednesday 28 September.

The three methamphetamine dealers arrested were N (33), R (34), and RAM (20). All three are residents of Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi Province.

Kompol Ujang said the 252.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine included 117.33 grams confiscated from R and RAM, and 2.41 grams from N's hands. Including 133.19 grams seized from N's residence in Pinrang.

He said that the disclosure of the case began with a public report related to a criminal act of drug abuse in the Rangas neighborhood, Majene Regency.

"From that information, the Drug Investigation Unit conducted an investigation and succeeded in thwarting the circulation of 252.3 grams and arresting three perpetrators," said Ujang Saputra.

From the results of the examination, he said, the three perpetrators admitted that the evidence of 252.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine was brought from Malaysia when they were working as migrant workers.

"The three of them are new players and they previously worked as migrant workers in Malaysia and the items they obtained were taken from their workplaces. Maybe because Majene is a crossing area, many perpetrators try to distribute drugs," he said.

The three have been named suspects by being charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a minimum prison sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years.

"The evidence of 252.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine is worth more than IDR 500 million and this is the largest capture of the Majene Police since the last five years," he said.

He asked the public to immediately report if they know of suspected drug abuse in their environment.

"We urge the public to immediately report if they know of suspected drug abuse in their respective environments. Without community participation, drug eradication is difficult," said Ujang Saputra.
