KKP Surabaya Closes Miningitis Vaccine Registration Due to Thin Stocks, Umrah Pilgrims Threatened to Fail to Go to the Holy Land

SURABAYA - Umrah pilgrims from East Java are in danger of being delayed from leaving for the Holy Land. Because the stock of meningitis vaccine is running low, there are only 1,103 doses left.

"Availability is running low, there are only 1,103 doses of meningitis vaccine left", said the Surabaya Class I Port Health Office (KKP), Slamet Mulsiswanto, confirmed, Wednesday, September 28.

Slamet said that currently, the need for the vaccine is quite high because many Umrah pilgrims are scheduled to immediately leave for the Holy Land. He also hopes that the central government will immediately distribute it to East Java.

"But until today, the KKP can still administer the injection, maybe the last dose until Friday. We are currently waiting for the meningitis vaccine to be sent from the central government", he said.

The absence of additional deliveries of the meningitis vaccine has made the KKP close registration for the public since September 19, 2022.

The current stock, said Slamet, will be spent on people who have registered online or online.

"When it's finished, it's finished. It's just a matter of waiting from the center, in this case, the Ministry of Health. Usually, it will come in a week or two", he said.

KKP said Slamet submitted a request for 30 thousand doses of the meningitis vaccine. He hoped that the central government's request would soon be fulfilled.
