JAKARTA - The government has released a new policy to adjust to the pandemic situation in the country. The policy is contained in the Circular (SE) of the Task Force (Satgas) for Handling COVID-19 No 25 of 2022 concerning the Overseas Travel Health Protocol (PPLN).

The regulation regulates the application of vaccination requirements. For overseas travelers or PPLN, both Indonesian citizens/WNA aged 18 years and over who travel from abroad are required to show a certificate of COVID-19 vaccination of the third dose or booster through the PeduliLindung application.

This provision is exempted for PPLN Indonesian citizens with special health conditions or comorbid diseases accompanied by a doctor's certificate from a government hospital.

The exception is also for PPLN Indonesian citizens who have finished carrying out COVID-19 isolation and have been declared not at risk of transmitting the virus but have not been able to undergo the third dose of vaccination.

Meanwhile, PPLNs, whether Indonesian citizens or foreigners who wish to enter Indonesia, are required to show that they have undergone the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination in the PeduliLindung application.

With a limit of having vaccinated the second dose at least 14 days before departure written in English, other than the language of the country of origin.

However, this rule is exempted for PPLNs with certain conditions, including those under 18 years old, having special health conditions, and not being able to undergo vaccination because they have just finished quarantine/treatment due to COVID-19.

According to the Head of the Health Support Sub-Division of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Brigadier General TNI (Ret.) dr. Alexander Kaliaga Ginting, PPLN Indonesian citizens who have not been vaccinated against the first, second, or third dose of COVID-19 must undergo vaccination at the entrance after undergoing a health check.

"Foreign PPLN who are already in Indonesia and will travel, both domestically and internationally, must undergo vaccination through the government scheme," he said, according to Antara.

In addition, he said, travelers who experience symptoms of illness must undergo further examination, antigen examination or RT-PCR examination, to detect COVID-19 transmission.
