The earthquake was located in the sea at a distance of 119 km south of Krui City, Lampung. With the epicenter at coordinates 6.34° South Latitude; 103.67° East Longitude.
The depth of the earthquake reached 43 km. However, BMKG noted that the earthquake was a type of shallow earthquake.
The Lampung earthquake occurred due to the subduction activity of the Indo-Australian Plate which subducted under the Eurasian Plate, precisely in the Megathrust zone.
Monitoring carried out by the BMKG also found that there were no indications of aftershocks as of 03.05 WIB.
BMKG appealed to the public to remain calm and not be influenced by issues that cannot be justified.
The public was also asked to avoid buildings that were cracked or damaged by the earthquake.
"Check and make sure the building where you live is earthquake-resistant enough, or there is no damage due to earthquake vibrations that endanger the stability of the building before you return to the house," he said.
