JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto asked the public to trust the leaders in the government. Prabowo also asked the public not to be easily provoked.

"We have to get along, we have to be cool, we have to be careful, we have to work well together, we have to trust the leadership, don't want to be provoked, create calm, good cooperation, mutual cooperation," Prabowo said at the Representatives Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 16.

Prabowo conveyed this after attending the delivery of a state speech in the context of the 77th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence by President Joko Widodo at the 2022 People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Annual Session with the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI)).

"I think we are grateful for the achievements that have been achieved but we remain vigilant. I think the essence of what the President said is that the world situation is very uncertain, world conditions are alarming, world conditions are very, very difficult, there is a lot of hunger around the world," Prabowo said.

This means that Prabowo said that Indonesia is grateful but must remain vigilant.

"Just as we managed to deal with the pandemic, God willing, we can face the upcoming situation," said Prabowo.

In his speech, President Jokowi said that the whole world is facing a test because the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has not fully recovered. The world economy has not yet fully recovered. Suddenly war broke out in Ukraine so that the food crisis, energy crisis, and financial crisis were unavoidable.

This resulted in 107 countries affected by the crisis, some of which went bankrupt. Furthermore, it is estimated that 553 million people are at risk of extreme poverty and 345 million people are at risk of food shortages and hunger.

However, Indonesia is one of the countries that is able to face the global crisis, even being a country that has succeeded in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Including the top five countries with the most vaccinations in the world, 432 million doses of vaccine have been injected. Inflation has also been controlled at around 4.9 percent," said the President.

The inflation rate, according to the President, is far below the ASEAN average of around 7 percent.

"Far below inflation in developed countries which is around 9 percent. In addition, the economy managed to grow positively at 5.44 percent in the second quarter of 2022. The trade balance was also in surplus for 27 consecutive months, and in the first semester of this year the surplus is around IDR 364 trillion," explained the President.

He also emphasized that these achievements should be grateful because Indonesia's economic fundamentals remain very good in the midst of the turbulent world economy.

In fact, until the middle of this year, the state budget also had a surplus of IDR 106 trillion. Therefore, the Government is able to provide subsidies for BBM, LPG, and electricity of IDR 502 trillion in 2022 so that the price of fuel in the community does not soar.

"On the one hand, we must remain vigilant and remain cautious. However, on the other hand, we must continue with the nation's big agendas to achieve Advanced Indonesia," said the President.
