DKI Targets 92 Thousand Healthcare Workers To Be Vaccinated By Second Booster

JAKARTA - Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the DKI Jakarta Health Service, Dwi Oktavia, said that there were around 92.000 health workers who were targeted for the second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination.

These tens of thousands of health workers, said Dwi, had previously received the second and third doses of vaccination (booster) more than six months ago.

"The number of health workers who are registered as health workers and have had complete vaccines, there are around 92 thousand people in DKI Jakarta. The second one has the first booster, later after six months, he will be able to receive the second booster," said Dwi when contacted, Friday, August 5.

However, the target number of Nakes who receive the second booster is still subject to change. Dwi said it was possible that there were a number of health workers who moved from out of town to Jakarta, although there were not many.

Currently, the second booster vaccination is running in stages. Health workers who work in health facilities can directly request vaccinations at the local health center or take vaccinations at their workplace.

"For other health workers and he has a second booster vaccine e-ticket, he can get a second booster vaccination at the Public Health Center (puskesmas) or at another health facility. The key is in the second booster e-ticket or shows that a person is entitled to a second booster," explained Dwi.

As is known, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) issued a circular regarding the implementation of the second booster or second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination among health workers starting last Friday, July 29.

This provision is contained in Circular Letter Number HK.02.02/C/3615/2022 regarding the booster or second dose of COVID-19 vaccination for human resources in the health sector.

Circulars regarding the implementation of the second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination for human resources in the health sector were conveyed to all heads of provincial and district/city level health offices as well as leaders of health service facilities carrying out COVID-19 vaccinations.

The Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, revealed that the second booster vaccination or fourth dose vaccination for human resources in the health sector can be carried out using a COVID-19 vaccine product that has obtained an emergency use authorization (EUA) from the National Agency of Health. Food and Drug Supervisors by taking into account the availability of vaccines.

The second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine is given six months after the first booster vaccination. The second booster vaccination service for human resources in the health sector is available at health care facilities and COVID-19 vaccination service posts.

Maxi said that the second booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was given to health workers with the approval of the Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ITAGI).

"ITAGI approval already exists for high-risk groups," said Maxi.
