20 Young Artists To Study Prehistoric Civilization Sites In Leang-Leang Maros

MAKASSAR - A total of 20 participants of the Art Gathering program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology from among selected young artists in Indonesia gathered in Leang-Leang to study prehistoric civilization sites in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi.

"This visit is in line with the Director General of Culture's program to activate cultural heritage, because it raises traditional arts around cultural heritage, one of which is in Maros, Pangkep, and Makassar," said Director of Artistic Indonesia Speaking 2022, Melati Suryodarmo at the Leang-Leang Maros site, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, August 2nd.

The program is also designed with the meeting, exchange, and networking events in mind. By applying the concept of an open art laboratory, raising topics according to what is chosen and becoming a mutual agreement between artists through discussion.

In addition to a visit to the Leang-Leang prehistoric site in Maros, participants will also visit the Bissu community in Pangkep Regency, an art laboratory session, and a discussion at the Fort Rotterdam Makassar.

This activity is a series of Art Gatherings with the theme of Performing Arts from August 1-8, 2022 in South Sulawesi.

This activity is a program of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology through the Directorate of Film, Music, and Media, the Directorate General of Culture in the series of the 2022 Indonesia Talked Mega Event Festival.

In addition, it is part of the grand event of the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Culture which will be held in the Borobudur Area, Magelang, Central Java in September 2022.

"All participants were selected based on their enthusiasm to meet and share their experiences and practice methods in strengthening an independent and networked art ecosystem," added Melati.

This program is implemented as a means of strengthening the ecosystem of young artists, to maintain the survival of Nusantara's arts as Indonesian cultural heritage.
