DENPASAR - The government is targeting the Sanur Port, South Denpasar, Bali, to be completed before the G20 Summit in November 2022 on the Island of the Gods.

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi reviewed the Sanur Port project to ensure the port's readiness for members of the G20 Summit who will cross to Nusa Penida, Klungkung Regency, Bali.

"I visited Sanur Port to ensure that this port is well prepared for G20 visitors, so that they can go to Nusa Penida properly," said the Minister of Transportation while reviewing Sanur Port with Bali Governor Wayan Koster, Wednesday, July 27.

The Minister of Transportation alluded to President Jokowi's message that development on the Island of the Gods should be guarded as a major tourist destination.

In addition, the Minister of Transportation talked about the increasing number of visits via flights to the island of Bali. This shows the attractiveness of Bali as a tourist destination.

"I had time with several tourists. They were very happy and happy to arrive in Bali and we must serve well. Therefore, I ordered the Governor that later when it is operated, we are looking for the best team of waiters, we will curate shops or cafe that is here and is one of the advantages of Bali," he said.

Meanwhile, Bali Governor Wayan Koster said the construction of the Sanur Port had reached 87 percent and was targeted for completion in September 2022.

"The progress of this development has reached 87 percent and it is confirmed that it will be completed in September," he said.

The Bali Provincial Government continued, Koster expressed his gratitude through the Minister of Transportation Budi for fulfilling the proposal for the construction of the Sanur Port which will make it easier for the public and tourists to cross to Nusa Penida Island.

So far, people called Koster have difficulty crossing to Nusa Penida Island via Sanur Harbor. They had to take off their shoes so they wouldn't get wet when they got on the boat and carry clothes on their feet so they wouldn't get wet.

"Because since Bali existed, since centuries people have crossed to Nusa Penida it is very difficult to lift their foot cloths and no one wears shoes. If you go to Nusa Penida, no one wears shoes because they have to take off their shoes," he said.

"Later, when this port is finished, I think it will be a comfortable crossing to Nusa Penida. There are daily needs to go to Dalem Ped Temple Nusa Penida, some are indeed traveling to Nusa Penida and daily life activities to Nusa Penida," said Koster.

Governor Koster revealed that the construction of the Sanur Port was a pride for the Balinese people.

"Once finished, we will arrange the entire area so that everything is neat. Including the merchants, we saw (warung) like beds. So we have to tidy up so that this area as a whole is beautiful and beautiful to become a new area and new destination, not only crossing facilities to Nusa Penida," he said.
