GARUT - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil stated that he will immediately repair 43 bridges damaged by floods in Garut Regency so that people can return to their activities comfortably and safely.

"This is one of the 43 points where the bridge was destroyed, so the West Java government will help, at these points," said the Governor, who is familiarly called Kang Emil when he inspected the bridge destroyed by flooding in Sukasuka Village, Banyuresmi District, Garut, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 21.

He said the West Java Provincial Government had made various efforts to help communities and areas affected by flash floods in Garut on Friday (15/7).

In the meantime, he said, the government will build a temporary bridge by preparing officers to help cross both residents and children going to and from school in Sukasuka Village.

"In about three to four months, the permanent bridge will be completed by raising the height, because the results of the study show that there is an increase in the flood level, so it is raised at least 2 meters," he said.

Ridwan Kamil said the provincial and Garut regency governments would simultaneously repair other damaged bridges, not just the bridge in Sukasuka Village.

"Besides at this point, we will help about 40 other bridges, God willing, we are still thinking about the Regent, Deputy Regent, so that they can be done simultaneously," said Kang Emil.

It is confirmed that the West Java Provincial Government is ready to help allocate the budget for repairing bridges affected by floods in Garut.

"But later on, the majority of funding will come from provincial funds, God willing, don't worry," he said.

The flash flood disaster in Garut has hit 14 sub-districts and caused 6 thousand houses to be submerged in water.

The incident did not cause any casualties, only caused damage to houses and other public facilities.
