PKB Asks Depok Mayor To Focus On Work Instead Of Proposing To Join Jakarta

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives from the PKB faction Cucun Syamsurijal asked Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris to focus on work instead of proposing his territory to join Greater Jakarta. Moreover, the term of office of the regional head is only a short time away.

"The term of office for regional heads is only a little over a year, just focus on work," said Cucun to reporters, Monday, July 18.

The West Java electoral district legislator explained that merging an area has other impacts such as changes to the rules. Moreover, said Cucun, it is now approaching the election where there are already regulations regarding electoral districts and others.

"Soon the election, (if Depok joins DKI), will change the electoral district and the number of districts in the Election Law because (Regional Election Depok) merges with Bekasi City," he said.

The head of the PKB faction reminded that changing the regional administration of a region is not only based on the wishes of the regional head. According to him, a lot of careful consideration is needed to change the province's territory.

"There are a lot of multi-effect considerations. It is related to population, administration, and related to other governance. If you want to organize it, run it with the existing position, and the authority is given by law. It's not a discourse on combining government territory boundaries that will change regulations," Cucun concluded.
