UN Critics Fail To Be Neutral At Vinnitsa Ukraine, Russia: They Are Not Siding With Anyone!

JAKARTA - The United Nations failed to take a neutral stance regarding the development of the situation in the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia, and criticized Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Maria Zakharova.

Asked to comment on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' remarks on the developments in Vinnytsia, Zakharova said, "contrary to the requirements of the UN Charter, the Secretariat failed to take the same stance, which is expected of the secretariats of most leading international organizations, designed specifically to help resolve disputes".

"I would like to remind my esteemed colleagues at the UN Secretariat, that their aim is not to side with anyone in a controversial situation. But, to facilitate efforts to maintain peace and stability. This is what they are paid for and what they are mandated to do", Zakharova pointed out, quoted from TASS on July 16.

She further stressed that the UN should know from the report of the Russian Ministry of Defense that the attack on Vinnytsia, which involved a high-precision Kalibr missile, targeted the garrison officer club where consultations between the Ukrainian air force command and foreign representatives (weapons suppliers) took place.

"We recommend that Guterres ask Ukraine why the Kyiv regime continues to build military facilities near civilian facilities", the Russian diplomat said.

Moreover, according to Zakharova, neither Guterres nor other officials from the UN Secretariat condemned the “attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure” when it came to the shooting of Kursk, Belgorod, or Novaya Kakhovka on Russian territory.

This is not the first time Russia has accused the UN of not being neutral. Last April, Russia's diplomat for permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) Dmitry Polyansky said the world body was not neutral regarding the situation in Ukraine, confirming allegations of espionage by the staff of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation and European countries) mission.

"They have a certain sympathy," Russia's Deputy Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky told the Solovyov Live television channel.
