KPU: Number Of Voters From Data Update Results Decreasing 637,179 People

JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) said that the number of voters as a result of updating the continuous voter data (PDPB) in the first semester of 2022 was reduced by 637,179 voters.

"There was a decrease in the number of voters by 637,179 voters when compared to the number of DPB voters in Semester II 2021 as many as 190,659,348 due to new voters and voters who did not meet the requirements during the update", said KPU member Betty Epsilon Idroos as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 12.

The PDPB recapitulation is carried out in stages from the district/city, provincial, to national levels. Submission of recapitulation of PDPB at the regency/city KPU level every 3 months and for the provincial KPU level every 6 months.

Based on the submission of the recapitulation of the provincial KPU throughout Indonesia, the KPU shall recapitulate the PDPB at the national level every 6 months.

According to him, the recapitulation of updating new voter data in the PDPB Semester I 2022, totaled 578,139 voters, and voters did not meet the requirements of 1,215,318 voters, and voters changed the data for 818,302 voters.

He said the results of the first semester of 2022 PDPB were the number of voters for the current month as many as 190,022,169 people.

"I think the composition of men and women is almost equal, men 49.9 percent and women 50.1 percent of the condition of the population in Indonesia as of today in a sustainable voter list", he said.

In the future, according to Betty, coordination with several relevant stakeholders will continue, such as synchronizing data on the list of potential voters for the election (DP4) of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Thus, when obtaining data on the list of potential voters for the election (DP4), the voter data can be cleaner, the KPU's work is not too heavy to update voter data ahead of the 2024 election.
