MATARAM - Deputy Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Sitti Rohmi Djalilah, expressed the readiness of the provincial government if it was chosen to be one of the green energy pilot project areas in Indonesia.
"We have a lot of potentials to realize green energy", she said when receiving a visit from the Review Team of the Indonesian National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas RI) in the context of deepening long-term study material in the NTB Province, Antara, Wednesday, July 6.
The Deputy Governor stated that NTB has a lot of potential in realizing green energy. Even the NTB Provincial Government has an ambitious target of being free of carbon emissions or net-zero emissions by 2050. Meanwhile, the central government is targeting to be free of carbon emissions by 2060.
Related to this, the Deputy Governor also acknowledged that the Province of NTB as an area has a clear road map related to reducing carbon emissions. “We have a lot of potentials to realize green energy. What's more, we have a target of zero emissions by 2050. It's 10 years faster than the central government's target. And we have also prepared a road map and steps up to 2050 in the future", he said.
The Deputy Governor of NTB explained that to pursue the 2050 carbon emission-free target, the NTB Provincial Government has made environmental development a regional priority. Which is described in one of its missions, namely Asri and Sustainable NTB to realize a Clean and Green NTB.
"In NTB we have a mission of Asri and Lestari. This is a concrete manifestation of our concern for the environment", he said.
