Welcoming Jokowi At The Semarang Peterongan Market, Colors Rise On Traders' Tables So That They Are Not Obstructed To See The President

SEMARANG - Residents of various ages, backgrounds, and professions enthusiastically welcomed President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at Peterongan Market, Semarang City, Central Java Province, Tuesday 5 July.

The President arrived at Peterongan Market at around 12.30 WIB accompanied by his wife and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.

When the convoy of the President's official vehicles stopped in front of the Peterongan Market, residents immediately tried to approach to see firsthand the number one person in Indonesia.

When they saw the President getting out of the vehicle, the residents shouted his name, "Mr. Jokowi..., Mr. Jokowi..., Mr. Jokowi...."

Based on the Antara report, personnel from the Presidential Security Forces, Indonesian Army (TNI), National Police, and the Civil Service Police Unit must work hard to detain residents who want to approach the President.

People flocked to follow the President into the market complex, pointing their cell phone cameras at the President, who was wearing a white shirt and black trousers.

Among the residents, there were those who went up to the traders' stall tables so they wouldn't be hindered from seeing President Jokowi conversing with traders at the Peterongan Market.

While at the traditional market complex, President Jokowi served people who wanted to shake hands or take selfies with a smile.

A trader at Peterongan Market, Umi Mulyani, was happy to see President Jokowi up close even though he didn't get a chance to shake hands.

"Marakne sikil ndredeg (makes legs tremble)", said Umi, who was seeing President Jokowi up close for the first time.

President Jokowi and his entourage left Peterongan Market at 13.15 WIB.

Previously visited Peterongan Market, the President was the inspector of ceremonies at the celebration of Bhayangkara's 76th anniversary, which was centered on the Police Academy Campus in the Candi area, Semarang City.
