COVID-19 Cases Rise, Jakarta Returns To Level 2 PPKM, Mall Capacity Is Now Allowed For 75 Percent

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta is now implementing Level 2 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). The regulation will automatically increase the capacity of malls and shopping centers in the capital to 75 percent after previously being 100 percent.

The latest provisions are contained in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 33 of 2022 concerning the PPKM which is valid from July 5 to August 1, 2022 in Jakarta, Tuesday.

The Minister of Home Affairs has updated the provisions of Inmendagri No. 29 of 2022 which ends on July 4, 2022.

In the latest regulation, the government still allows malls to remain open until 22.00 p.m.

A number of community activities, previously opened to 100 percent capacity when Level 1 PPKM was now reduced to a maximum of 75 percent due to the increase in positive cases of COVID-19.

Companies in the non-essential sector now have to re-implement the obligation to work from home at 25 percent and 75 percent to work from the office (WFO).

Restaurants or restaurants are also required to apply 75 percent of visitor capacity. Likewise, the capacity in food stalls / street vendors.

Restaurants/cafes that operate at night from 18.00 p.m. to 02.00 a.m. are required to open at 75 percent capacity

Not only that, the capacity of cinemas, places of worship, public facilities such as parks and public tourist attractions, cultural arts activities and fitness centers is 75 percent.

While public transportation is still allowed to carry passengers up to 100 percent.

Based on data from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov), since the last few days active cases of COVID-19 being treated and isolated have shown an increase. However, since early July, this increase has been accompanied by a decrease in active cases.

As of Sunday, July 3, the number of active cases in Jakarta reached 9.078 cases, a decrease of 285 cases.

Meanwhile, the number of daily positive cases increased to 931 cases and the number of recovered patients increased to 1.213 patients.

The number of people tested by PCR-based swabs reached 68.706 people over the past week with an average percentage of positive cases reaching 10.9 percent.

The increase in positive cases of COVID-19 was obtained because the number of people being tested was also higher than the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of 10.645 people per week.
