Hajj Candidates Died In The Holy Land Increased To 16 People

MECCA - The Indonesian Hajj Health Office (KKHI) for the Mecca Working Area (Daker) recorded that two hajj candidates died on Wednesday after previously undergoing treatment, bringing the total number of pilgrims who died at this time to 16 people.

"Yes, because of heart disease. Previously, he was treated here," said the Head of the Mecca Daker Health Section, Muhammad Imran at KKHI Mecca as reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 29.

The two pilgrims who died were on behalf of Norlius Ilyas Intan Kayo from the Batam Embarkation group 7 (BTH 7) and Anta Misda Jiam from the Jakarta-Bekasi (JKS) 11 Embarkation group.

With the death of the two Hajj candidates, up to now, eight Hajj candidates have died in Mecca, the rest are in Medina and at the airport.

Imran said, currently as many as 67 Indonesian pilgrims are undergoing inpatient treatment at KKHI Mecca.

"They have heart problems and we are treating them here," said Imran.

So far, KKHI Mecca has treated 731 cases with 531 outpatients and 200 inpatients. Imran said, of the number of pilgrims who were hospitalized, the most suffered from heart disease.

"So our congregation here who after doing physical activity experience heart problems and also have a previous heart history. There are also those who have risk factors for diabetes and hypertension," said Imran.

In addition, there were also 16 pilgrims who were referred to the Saudi Arabian Hospital but six of them underwent treatment, namely because of fractures, and strokes, and some were treated for cancer.
