YOGYAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 6 Yogyakarta signed a cooperation agreement with the Yogyakarta Special Region Police (Polda DIY) to increase synergy between institutions, especially in the field of rail asset security (KA).

The signing of the cooperation was carried out by the Yogyakarta Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol Asep Suhendar and the Executive Vice President of PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Iwan Eka Putra at the Yogyakarta Regional Police Headquarters Lobby, Yogyakarta, Monday 27 June.

"It is undeniable that the intensity of the community in using KAI services is quite high, therefore the Yogyakarta Regional Police is ready to provide assistance in securing, escorting, monitoring, and controlling assets (trains)," said Asep, quoted from Antara.

According to Asep, increasing security needs to be done considering that rail transportation is one of the modes of transportation that is in great demand by the public.

"In addition to being cost-friendly, trains are very comfortable to travel with and free of obstacles so that people arrive at their destinations on time," he said.

The intensity of KAI service users, according to Asep, is sufficient to allow for potential disturbances to public order and security while on the train or at the station.

Therefore, he said, assistance in securing, escorting, monitoring, and controlling will cover assets both openly and privately within PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta.

"On the other hand, the DIY Regional Police can take advantage of PT KAI's facilities and infrastructure to support the implementation of the DIY Regional Police's duties in maintaining security and public order in the DIY region," said Asep Suhendar.

Executive Vice President of PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Iwan Eka Putra appreciates the cooperation agreement and is ready to support the implementation of the Yogyakarta Regional Police's duties.

"We really appreciate this collaboration because it has been established smoothly and we are ready to support the activities of the DIY Regional Police," said Iwan.
