Talking About Prerogatives As PDIP Chairman, Megawati: I Have A Heavy Responsibility

JAKARTA - Chairperson of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri said that as the holder of prerogatives, she had a tough task. He has the responsibility to set the party's steps forward.

This was conveyed by Megawati at the closing of the second PDIP National Working Meeting at the PDIP DPP Party School, Thursday, June 23. She said this prerogative is not only to determine who the presidential and vice-presidential candidates are promoted by his party, but also other strategic steps.

"Actually, the prerogative is not only to choose the presidential and vice-presidential candidates. So I have a very heavy responsibility, namely what, to carry this ship called PDI-P," Megawati said in front of her cadres.

"So if someone says, 'Ma'am, I want to go to the right', I have to tell my son. You have to be in the middle. If he doesn't want to understand, I can use my prerogative," added the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

If the cadres do not want to follow her directions, Megawati invites them to leave the party. "I warned you that the ship we were carrying was in the middle. Yesterday it was so viral that I went back and forth," she asserted.

Megawati said that the threat to leave the party was not because she easily removed cadres.

"That's indeed my prerogative. So it's not because it's easy," she said.

As previously reported, PDIP has formulated a number of recommendations from the second National Working Meeting which was held for three days, from Tuesday, June 21 to Thursday, June 23. One of the recommendations read was related to the determination of the pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

It was the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, who was lined up to read out recommendations related to Pancasila ideology, the political system, and the 2024 General Election.

"The Party's Second National Working Meeting confirms that the determination of the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs that will be carried by the PDI-P in the 2024 Election based on the decision of the Party's V Congress, the Party's Articles of Association, and democratic traditions is the prerogative of the General Chairperson of the Megawati Soekarnoputri Party," said Ganjar when reading out party recommendations at the PDIP DPP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Thursday, June 23.

When Ganjar read out this recommendation, a number of cadres who were present in the PDIP DPP Party School Hall screamed the word 'Freedom'. The atmosphere was boisterous for a moment while Ganjar on the podium continued his reading.
