Seconds Of Susi Air's Crash In Timika Until The SAR Team Finally Found It

JAKARTA - The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) explained the chronology of the downing of the Susi Air Pilatus Porter PC-6 aircraft with flight number PK BVM in Timika, Papua.

Initially, the plane with the pilot Capt. Doyle Peter took off from Timika Airport at 05.34 WIT to Duma. The plan is for the plane to arrive at Duma Airport at 05:54 WIT. However, Basarnas received a report that the plane had lost contact.

"At 06.00 WIT, the Basarnas Command Center in Jakarta detected a distress alert signal from the plane with the PK BVM registration belonging to Susi Air," wrote the statement on the sar_nasional Instagram account on Thursday, June 23.

It is estimated that the plane with six passengers and one pilot crashed at coordinates 04°02' 54.00"S / 136° 43' 0600E, a distance of 38 Miles, radial 343.81° from Timika.

The Timika SAR Office, which received the news, immediately coordinated with the relevant agencies and prepared 1 SAR team to carry out SAR operations.

"At 06.14 WIT the SAR team of the Timika SAR Office was already at Moses Kilangi Airport to plan the SAR operation process with the relevant agencies," he wrote.

Then, at 11.16 WIT, the joint SAR team from the Timika SAR Office and the Indonesian Air Force departed for the crash site using the Indonesian Air Force Caracal Heli to evacuate the victims.

Former Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudujiastuti said that all passengers, including the pilot of the Susi Air plane that had an accident in Timika, Papua, were reported to be safe.

"At 09.00 the captain pilot and all passengers are safe," wrote Susi on the Susipudjiastuti Twitter account.

Susi said that currently the evacuation team of the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) and the TNI were carrying out evacuation efforts at the crash point of her plane.
