AGO Examines IISIA Executive Director As Witness In Steel Import Corruption Case

JAKARTA - The Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Indonesian Attorney General's Office examined the Executive Director of the Indonesian Iron & Steel Industry Association (IISIA), Widodo Setiadharmaji, as a witness in the investigation into the alleged criminal act of corruption in the import of iron or steel.

"WS as the Executive Director of the Indonesian Iron & Steel Industry Association (IISIA), was investigated regarding the impact of the surge in imports of iron and alloy steel", said the Head of the Indonesian Attorney's Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) Ketut Sumedana in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, June 16.

On the same day, investigators also examined four other witnesses, namely Fedaus, as Director of PT Gunung Raja Paksi, Tbk, Manager of Regulation of Corporate Affairs of PT Krakatau Steel, Tuti Rachmawati, and Specialist for senior corporate regulation affairs of PT Krakatau Steel Ilham Arief Gautama. The three were examined regarding the impact of the surge in imports of iron, and alloy steel. The next witness was the Director of PT Prasasti Metal Utama (AMU), Andry Haryanto.

"AH as Director of PT AMU was investigated regarding the import of steel carried out by the suspect PT AMU corporation", said Ketut.

In this case, investigators at the Roundhouse have named nine suspects, namely three individual suspects and six corporate suspects.

Of the three individual suspects, two of them are private suspects and one is from the Ministry of Trade. The three suspects are Retain Banurea Young Analyst of Import Trade at the Directorate General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade, Taufiq, the manager of PT Meraseti, and the founder of PT Meraseti with the initials BHL or Budi Hartono Linardi.

Meanwhile, the other six suspects are importing companies, namely PT Bangun Era Sejahtera, PT Duta Sari Sejahtera, PT Intisource Baja Sakti, PT Jaya Arya Kemuning, PT Perwira Aditama Sejati, and PT Prasasti Metal Utama.
