JAKARTA - The General Elections Supervisory Body of the Republic of Indonesia (Bawaslu RI) of the Republic of Indonesia has opened registration for 2024 Election Observers and at the same time launched the 2024 Election Monitoring Service Desk, Friday, June 10.

"The sooner the better (registration of election observers) so that observers can oversee and oversee the 2024 election stages", said Bawaslu RI Chairman, Rahmat Bagja, in Jakarta on Friday, June 10.

Some of the conditions for the observer, namely the organization with a legal entity, are neutral, non-partisan, and independent. After the conditions are met, Bawaslu will provide accreditation for election observers who will participate in overseeing the 2024 election.

Bawaslu targets to be able to receive as many registrations as election observers to participate in supervising the 2024 election.

"In the 2019 election, there were around 136 election observers", said Bagja.

At the national level, election observers can register through the Election Monitoring Service Desk 2024 Bawaslu RI. Then, election observers in the regions can register through the provincial, district, and city Bawaslu.

In supervising the 2024 election stage, he said, Bawaslu is committed to increasing public participation in election monitoring. This commitment is proven by Bawaslu by facilitating individuals who are called to monitor elections to be able to join legal entities monitoring institutions.

This, he explained, is to accommodate participatory supervisory cadres in implementing the knowledge and skills of election monitoring. This is to open up as much public participation in supervising democratic events as possible.

Bagja conveyed that in the reflection of the 2019 Election, observers were quite difficult to register to get accreditation for election observers from Bawaslu because there was no election monitoring service desk as currently implemented by Bawaslu.

"Now it's easier and more transparent, if you register, you don't need to go to which room, you just have to go to the 2024 Election Monitoring Service Desk at the Bawaslu RI lobby", said Bagja.
