Russian Official: US Evacuation From Afghanistan Is A Lesson For Countries Willing To Become Nato Troop Bases

JAKARTA - The evacuation of US troops and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) from Afghanistan, a lesson for all countries thinking of allowing the US and NATO to deploy military infrastructure on their territory, said Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

"What happened in Afghanistan is a good lesson for all people in the world who want to trust Washington blindly. Americans are leaving the country and leaving the problems they created for the Afghans themselves and the countries of the region to solve," Nurgaliyev said, as quoted by TASS on June 7.

"Now they are forced to carry this heavy burden. All CIS countries have understood how careful they should be, regarding US and NATO efforts to install military infrastructure in their countries," he continued.

Nurgaliyev further pointed out that Russia believes that such an initiative is unacceptable in any form. He said Washington made various efforts to destabilize countries in the post-Soviet region. He reminded that in 2020 the West will not waste efforts and means to organize a coup in Belarus.

"Supporters of the Belarusian opposition, coordinated by the West, organized mass protests under the pretext of disagreement with the results of the presidential election. The suppression of the efforts of the color revolution in the country did not pacify Western countries. A number of European countries have very well received in their homes the so-called Belarusian opposition leaders, traveled the world with calls to do maximum damage to their homeland, and they continue to provide them with political, organizational, ideological and, most importantly financial support," he said.

He added, "Washington and its allies have stirred up a generation of unpleasant surprises for the CIS countries in the form of persistent threats to their national security."

"America's disgraceful evacuation from Afghanistan proves that the US, like an elephant in a Chinese shop, is leaving behind ruin. Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other CIS republics face the threat of uncontrolled migration and drug trafficking from Afghanistan. Various international terrorist organizations are deployed, becoming more active in border areas Tajik-Afghanistan," he warned.

To note, more than 100 thousand civilians, diplomats and military of the United States, NATO countries, citizens of other countries including Afghans, fled the country in a massive evacuation on August 14-31 2021.

It was taken after US President Joe Biden decided to withdraw all his troops from Afghanistan. On August 15, the Taliban managed to enter the capital Kabul and slowly took power.
