Jambi Governor Reminds Regencies/Cities To Beware Of Forest Fires In The Dry Season

JAMBI - Jambi Governor Al Haris warned district and city governments in the province to be aware of forest and land fires (Karhutla) following the transition from the rainy season to the dry season.

"Jambi is an area prone to forest and land fires, so the local government should be more vigilant", said Al Haris in Jambi, Wednesday, May 18.

Currently, the Jambi region is in the transition season, namely from the rainy season to the dry season. Therefore, areas prone to forest and land fires need to be aware of the occurrence of forest and land fires.

Al Haris explained that last week five hectares of land were burned in Londerang Village, Muaro Jambi Regency. Luckily, the combined officers were able to extinguish the fire, so the forest and land fires did not spread to other areas.

Al Haris asked that the forest and land fires in Londerang Village be a warning for areas prone to forest and land fires. Especially areas that have peatlands such as in Muaro Jambi Regency, East Tanjung Jabung and West Tanjung Jabung District.

In addition, currently, two districts in Jambi Province have established an emergency status for forest and land fires. Namely Muaro Jambi Regency and East Tanjung Jabung Regency. However, the determination of the Jambi Province's Karhutla emergency alert status has not yet been determined.

"We are still looking at the situation and conditions, we hope that there will not be an increase in the case of forest and land fires", said Al Haris as quoted by Antara.

Al Haris emphasized that if there was an increase in the case of forest and land fires, the Jambi provincial government would establish an emergency alert status for forest and land fires with the aim that extinguishing actions could be carried out more effectively and efficiently.

In addition, the Governor of Jambi urges the community not to clear land by burning. It also helps the government to review and monitor rogue companies that try to clear land by burning.
