JAKARTA - The Golkar Party, PAN, and PPP have agreed to form a coalition ahead of the 2024 General Election. Seeing this condition, PKB Deputy Chairperson Jazilul Fawaid predicts that the 2024 presidential election will be filled by three pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

“I think this is looking for alternatives for the community. And we hope that in the 2024 presidential election, not two pairs, at least three pairs. With this meeting, I see that in the 2024 election there will be three pairs of candidates," Jazilul told reporters, Sunday, May 15.

Then, will PKB join the United Indonesia coalition formed by the three parties? Jazilul answered diplomatically.

According to him, PKB General Chair Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar had indeed communicated with Golkar General Chair Airlangga Hartarto. However, Muhaimin has not decided on PKB to join the coalition.

"Gus Muhaimin has communicated with Pak Airlangga and also with other political parties, but for the three political parties that gathered yesterday, the PKB has not confirmed its stance, whether together or later to build another coalition," said the Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI.

Furthermore, Jazilul hopes that other political parties can immediately determine their presidential candidates so that the public can freely give an assessment of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates that will be promoted.

Because, in accordance with the Election Law, political parties have the sovereignty to determine their position. However, what is clear is that the presidential and vice-presidential candidates are supported by political parties or a combination of political parties.

"So it's not all of a sudden. PKB itself has clearly promoted Gus Muhaimin as a presidential candidate in 2024," he added.

Previously, Golkar General Chair Airlangga Hartarto, PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas, and PPP chairman Suharso Monoarfa held a meeting in the Menteng area, Jakarta, Thursday night, May 12.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to form a United Indonesia Coalition. According to Airlangga, the agreement will strengthen unity to continue development. Airlangga's statement was confirmed by Zulhas and Suharso.

Airlangga likened the meeting of the three parties to the meeting of a banyan tree, the sun, and the Kaaba. "And when it has grown, we will build and continue to get the pleasure of Allah SWT," he said.
