JAKARTA - The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) is investigating the cause of death of an eight-year-old child suspected of contracting acute hepatitis.
"His death indicates a possible (probable) acute hepatitis whose etiology is still unknown," said West Jakarta Health Sub-dept. Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P), Arum Ambarsari quoting Antara, Thursday, May 12.
Arum said the Taman Sari resident had been treated at the Sawah Besar Regional General Hospital (RSUD) on April 15 and then referred to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital on April 17.
Arum could not explain what illness the child was suffering from.
After treatment, the child was declared dead on April 19, 2022.
After his death, the West Jakarta Health Sub-department received a report that the child might have died of hepatitis.
Based on the report, Arum immediately carried out further inspections at the victim's house.
They checked the condition of the house and the environment where the victim lived.
"We also examine environmental factors that cause the risk of acute hepatitis," said Arum.
Until now, the investigation process carried out by the West Jakarta Health Sub-dept. is still ongoing.
