SUKABUMI - The suspect with the initials GG (59) who poured hard water on his wife, Dedeh Kurniasih (45), a resident of Dukuhnara Village, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, is threatened with 10 years in prison.

"Investigators from the Sukabumi Police Satreskrim ensnared the suspect under Article 44 paragraph (1) and (2) in conjunction with Article 5 letter (a) UURI Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence (KDRT) which carries a maximum imprisonment of 10 years," said Sukabumi Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Ali Jupri as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 30.

According to Ali, the case of domestic violence that occurred in Pakarri Village, Nagrak District was initially handled by the Nagrak Police, but transferred to the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Sukabumi Police Criminal Investigation Unit because it involved domestic violence with four victims, two of whom were minors.

The victims were Dedeh, the suspect's wife, then the suspect's stepson, Sarif Alfian (18) and Angga (11) and the suspect Da's grandson (4). Currently GG is being held in the Sukabumi Police Headquarters detention cell.

The perpetrator admitted that the target of sprinkling hard water was his wife, but because the three children of the victim tried to protect their mother, they were hit by hard water.

Even the suspect's face was burned due to splashes of hard water.

The case of domestic violence carried out by the husband against his wife was triggered by GG's jealousy towards Dedah, who was known to have sent a short message to a man. However, it is not yet known whether the other ideal man was the victim or was just a colleague.

As a result of this incident, the wife of the suspect and a stepdaughter, Angga, suffered serious burns to several of his limbs and is currently undergoing treatment at the Sekarwangi Hospital in Cibadak.

"At the time of the incident, at home there were three children and grandchildren of the victim, when the suspect poured hard water on his wife, three of the victim's children namely Sarif, Angga and Ayi Ratna who were carrying Da tried to intervene and protect his biological mother, so Sarif, Angga and Da were splashed with hard water while Ayi survived," he added.
