Joint SAR Team Has Not Found The Missing Elderly Attacked By Crocodile In East Kolaka

KENDARI - The joint SAR team has yet to find an old man named Wacaling (60) who was reported missing by a crocodile on Tuesday afternoon, May 10 in the river Wungguloko Village, Ladongi District, East Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

The head of the Kendari Basarnas Aris Sofingi in Kendari, Wednesday evening, May 11, said that the search for the grandfather had been carried out starting at 06.30 until dusk at 5.30 central Indonesia time, but the victim had not been found.

"Development of the results of the second day of SAR operations against the victim until it entered 17.30 central Indonesia time, the joint SAR team temporarily suspended search operations because there were no results," he said, quoted by Antara.

He conveyed that the search for victims involved joint personnel from the Kolaka SAR Post, East Kolaka BPBD, East Kolaka BKSDA, Kolaka Police, Ladongi Police, Babinsa Wungguloko, Hidayatullah SAR, East Kompak KPA, local communities and the families of the victims.

"The search operation will resume on Thursday (12/5) morning at 06.30 central Indonesia time," he said.

The Kendari Basarnas previously received information on the unfortunate incident on Tuesday (10/5) night at around 21.30 central Indonesia time from a local resident named Lela who reported that at 17.15 central Indonesia time there had been a dangerous human condition for one resident who was attacked by a crocodile while setting a fishing trawl in the area Wungguloko village river, East Kolaka.

Aris said, based on the report, at 21.50 central Indonesia time his party dispatched a rescue team from the Kolaka SAR Post to provide assistance.

"Last night the team arrived at the location at 00.35 central Indonesia time and immediately carried out a search until 02.00 central Indonesia time, the SAR operation was temporarily suspended, and continued this morning at 06.30 central Indonesia time," said Aris.
