BANDUNG - West Java Governor M Ridwan Kamil asked the public not to panic about the acute hepatitis phenomenon because the state is ready to tackle the problem.

"I report that there is no (acute hepatitis) in West Java, and hopefully there won't be. People are advised not to panic. As usual, we have experienced ups and downs from the COVID-19 pandemic. Keep yourself clean, starting with yourself, your family, and the community. Don't worry, the state is ready to handle if there are (cases)", said Ridwan Kamil at Hasan Sadikin Hospital Bandung, Antara, Monday, May 9.

Ridwan Kamil monitored several rooms including the Hasan Sadikin Hospital Bandung, laboratory to anticipate the phenomenon of acute hepatitis, which is currently not found in West Java.

After reviewing several rooms at the Hasan Sadikin Hospital, Ridwan Kamil said that his party formed a team of experts from health to prepare the most accurate scenario if acute hepatitis is proven and original.

"In West Java, a team of experts has been formed with Hasan Sadikin Hospital. A laboratory is prepared to check whether this is an acute hepatitis category and so on. I have checked that it is ready, even the latest molecular technology is owned", said Kang Emil.

The West Java Provincial Government has also prepared rooms at the Hasan Sadikin Hospital if there are suspected cases of acute hepatitis. This disease targets infants to adolescents aged 16 years.

"The room has been prepared, just in case it is in West Java. From records, (acute hepatitis) occurs in infants up to 16 years of age. However, we do not yet know the reason for the target at that age, but statistics show it", he said.

"For the prevention of infectious hepatitis, the key is to live healthily. If the transmission is through breathing, wear a mask, keep your distance, reduce crowds, and don't exchange eating utensils. If you have a sick family, don't interact too much", said Kang Emil.

In addition to preparing a strategy for dealing with acute hepatitis, Kang Emil also made sure that the handling of COVID-19 in West Java was under control. The hospital occupancy rate is 0.8 percent.

"I came to the Hasan Sadikin Hospital to also confirm the condition of COVID-19. The occupancy of hospitals in West Java for COVID-19 is only 0.8 percent. Only 1,500 active cases are remaining from their peak of hundreds of thousands, and on average many have recovered. It is proven as in Hasan Sadikin Hospital only three children are being treated for COVID-19 and four adults. So minimal", he said.
