Anies Receives Warning Letter 1 And Demanded To Solve 9 Jakarta Problems

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, claims that the DKI Provincial Government will follow up on the 9 demands of the Jakarta Citizens' Coalition of Struggle (KOPAJA) which were submitted in the awarding of Warning Letter (SP) 1 to DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan today.

Not only KOPAJA's demands, but Riza also claims that the government will definitely follow up on all residents' complaints regarding Jakarta's problems.

"All demands, whatever, want 9, want 99, whatever we want, we will follow up. So in principle, we are very open", said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, April 22.

However, Riza asked the public to look at the facts of the performance of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government so far. Handling the problem of flooding to handling air pollution, Riza claims, has had improvements.

"We are not anti-criticism, instead we are waiting for constructive criticism and solutions. But we also have to be fair, look at the facts, look at the data", said Riza.

"Flood progress is getting better, transportation progress is getting better, we even got an award (about transportation), air pollution, everything is getting better, more conducive, our HDI (human development index) is the highest, we have various achievements", he continued.

For information, KOPAJA came to City Hall to send the first warning letter or SP 1 to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan. This warning letter contains demands for Anies to resolve 9 crucial problems in Jakarta in the last 6 months of Anies' term ending in October 2022.

One of these coalitions is represented by the Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH). Where in October 2021 they also submitted a red report card to Anies for his performance during his four years in office.

"The coalition of citizens is committed to evaluating the demands for solving these 9 problems over the next 6 months. We urge Mr. Anies Baswedan to fulfill this responsibility. Otherwise, we must convey that Mr. Anies must be dropped out of DKI Jakarta because failed to lead DKI Jakarta", said the representative of KOPAJA from LBH Jakarta, Jenny Silvia.

In reading this Warning Letter (SP) 1, KOPAJA outlined 9 crucial problems in Jakarta that Anies had to solve, including:

1. Poor air quality in Jakarta, which has exceeded the national ambient air quality standard (BMUAN)

2. Difficult access to clean water in Jakarta due to water privatization

3. The handling of the Jakarta floods has not been rooted in the causes of the floods

4. DKI Provincial Government is not serious about expanding access to legal aid

5. Weak protection of coastal communities and small islands in Jakarta Bay

6. Reclamation is still ongoing

7. Adequate housing is still a crucial issue

8. Forced evictions still haunt residents

9. The handling of COVID-19 and its social impact has not been maximized
