26 Indonesian Citizens To Be Smuggled Into Australia From East Nusa Tenggara, Promised To Work In Industry With A Salary Of IDR 30 Million

NTT - The Directorate of Water Police of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police arrested a smuggler who tried to smuggle 26 prospective workers from Indonesia to Australia.

"We took the 26 people into custody while we were preparing to leave using a wooden boat," said the Ditpolair of the NTT Police, Commissioner Nyoman Budiarja to reporters in Kupang, reported by Antara, Monday, April 18.

The suspect is known to have the initials S, is an Indonesian citizen who comes from Medan and has lived in Bali for a long time.

Nyoman explained that the 26 Indonesian citizens came from different areas, consisting of one from North Sumatra, one from West Java, four people from Central Java, nine people from East Java, seven people from Bali, and four people from West Nusa Tenggara.

The Indonesian citizens from various regions in Indonesia were promised to work on plantations in Australia with a salary of up to IDR 30 million per month.

He said from the results of the preliminary examination, it was known that S himself offered a job in Australia to Indonesian citizens who were interested in the lure of a salary of IDR 30 million per month.

The job offer process is disseminated through social media, namely Facebook with the aim of attracting many people who want to work in the Kangaroo country.

Everyone who wants to work in Australia, he said, from the results of the preliminary examination, it is known that they must deposit IDR 80 to 90 million per person.

The prospective workers are also known to want to be employed on plantations in Australia, but do not know what kind of plantation it is, consisting of 25 men and one woman.

Before leaving for Australia, the prospective workers have been given notice from the recruiter to act like fishermen if found by Australian security officers.

Now a number of victims of the smuggling are still being held at the office of the NTT Directorate of Water Police Corps of Water and Air Police (Ditpolai) for further information retrieval. Meanwhile, the recruiter with the initials S is now being detained by local authorities.
