IYC Tournament Held Next Week At JIS, Real Madrid Cancels To Play And Replaced By Bali United

JAKARTA - There is the latest news regarding the International Youth Championship (IYC). This soccer tournament will be held at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta next week.

"God willing, IYC will be held from April 13 to 19, 2022," said Chairman of Pancoran Soccer Field I Gede Widiade when confirmed, Monday, April 11.

The initial plan was that this friendly match would be followed by Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Indonesia All Star at the end of 2021.

However, when it was rescheduled for next week, it was confirmed that Real Madrid would not play next week. Gede revealed, later Real Madrid will be replaced with the club Bali United.

"Real Madrid did not participate. Possibly participating in the tournament in his country," said Gede.

Gede also said that the IYC tournament would be held without spectators and only invited a number of figures to watch the match live. This is an agreement between the organizers and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

"Tickets are not traded and broadcast on television. So, actually without spectators, only invitations," said Gede.

Furthermore, Gede revealed that this match was held with the aim of being charitable, and showing the world that Indonesia can hold the match during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is considered quite safe.

At the same time, to hold the soft launching of the magnificent stadium that the DKI Provincial Government has just built.

"Our goal is charity, to inform the world about the very good handling of COVID-19 in Indonesia. Second, the soft launching of JIS, shows that Indonesia has a very good football field. So, foreigners know we are not just fans, we also have a field so," he explained.
