JAKARTA - Joint officers conducted a raid on the need for Social Welfare Services (PPKS) or beggars whose presence began to mushroom in Central Jakarta on Friday, April 8, in the early hours of the morning.

From the observations of the Central Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Gambir District area is the most common spot for homeless people and seasonal beggars during Ramadan.

"There are five buskers and three homeless people who are begging on Jalan Balikpapan, Gambir District. They are secured into the operational service vehicle (KDO) of the Social Sub-Department and KDO belonging to the Satpol PP," said Head of the Central Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit, Bernard Tambunan when contacted by VOI, Friday, April 8.

Officers also combed the area of Jalan Cideng, Gambir District. From this location, officers arrested two homeless people who were in the area.

The officers then circled to other points in Central Jakarta which were vulnerable points for the presence of PPKS or homeless people. In the Kemayoran area, officers arrested two other homeless people.

Meanwhile, from Jalan Letjen Suprapto, Kemayoran, three homeless people were also arrested.

"The total results of the PPKS that were caught in last night's operation were 15 people who were secured from five locations prone to the presence of PPKS or homeless people," he said.

Meanwhile, on the previous day, joint officers also conducted raids on PPKS with 20 homeless people being caught.

"Everything has been taken to a social institution for coaching," he said.
