SURABAYA - The Provincial Government of East Java has implemented a program to whiten the administrative sanctions for Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Transfer Fees (BBNKB) as well as the second BBN exemption and so on.

"The tax breaks are valid for three months, or from April 1 to June 30, 2022," said East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 1.

The whitening, he said, was part of a program to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1443 Hijriah.

The program applies to all vehicle taxpayers in East Java, including vehicles outside the province that carry out vehicle transfers.

This whitening officially took effect with the issuance of the Decree of the Governor of East Java Number 188/226/KPTS/013/2022 concerning the Regional Tax Exemption of East Java Province.

According to Khofifah, the provision of incentives is expected to reduce the burden on the community in welcoming the fasting month so that they are calmer in carrying out worship during Ramadan.

The bleaching of the PKB and the principal of BBN II is at the same time a government effort to boost the tax potential in East Java.

He explained, as of March 14, 2022, there were 277,430 objects that experienced a transfer of ownership rights or a sale report, but the name of the vehicle has not been changed.

Assuming, 50 percent of the potential utilizes the whitening policy, from the PKB sector it will be utilized by 138,715 taxpayers.

"If the potential of each source of regional income can continue to be maximized, we believe that the optimistic spirit of East Java Rising in 2022 will be realized," continued Khofifah.

Governor Khofifah said the awareness of the people of East Java in fulfilling their tax obligations was very high.

This, he continued, is evident from the various achievements that have been proven by the East Java Bapenda, namely this year until the first quarter, 22.49 percent of the target has been achieved.

The achievement of this tax realization cannot be separated from the maximum service innovation factor, both direct payments and non-cash payment innovations.

The interest of taxpayers who pay non-cash can be seen from the number of taxpayers who use it, namely as of March 30, 2022, 307,183 taxpayers have utilized.

"As an appreciation, the East Java Provincial Government has again given the gift of Umrah savings which this year has been expanded to 46 winners. Last year, the recipients of the Umrah lottery were given to 30 obedient taxpayers in East Java," he said.

"For the first stage, the prizes for Umrah are drawn at the beginning of Ramadan. The next draw will be held on the momentum of the Indonesian Independence Day and the 2022 East Java Province Anniversary," added Khofifah.
