JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party Central Executive Board (DPP) Ahmad Muzani asked the government to carry out market operations to suppress the increase in basic prices in Ramadan 2022.

"The market sector must also be filled with products produced by local farmers. This nation must utilize the skills of farmers, food sources produced by farmers, ranging from rice, vegetables, to fruit, must be a blessing for food. every day," said Muzani in his statement in Jakarta, Friday, April 1.

Muzani said this was related to a number of basic necessities that had increased, including gasoline and value-added tax (VAT) rates ahead of the month of Ramadan.

He hopes that the public is patient in dealing with the issue of rising prices of basic commodities so that the spirit and faith of Muslims in carrying out fasting worship is not disturbed.

On the one hand, the increase in the prices of basic necessities is a sign or impact of the post-pandemic economic revival of the community. However, he continued, on the other hand, the impact of the war between Russia and Ukraine.

"The expenditure burden from the increase is of course heavy and this can disrupt the solemnity of fasting because the economy has not fully recovered. However, we believe that patience in dealing with this issue, including the economy, will not interfere with fasting," he said, citing Antara.

The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR hopes that the community can maintain inter-religious harmony by prioritizing the values of tolerance in socializing at every level of society.

This, he said, is the key to Indonesia's strength in maintaining the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia because Indonesia is a large country so that tolerance between religious communities has been a necessity in the nation and state since ancient times until now.

"Diversity has become a deep-rooted culture for Indonesia. If during the holy month of Ramadan we can live it with humility, it has become proof that Indonesia has become a tolerant nation," he added.

In addition, Muzani also reminded the public that they must continue to prioritize the discipline of health protocols because the current COVID-19 pandemic is still a threat to every country in the world so that public awareness in maintaining health is important.
