Formula E Spectator Seats Reduced To 10 Thousand, Deputy Governor Of DKI Explains Two Causes

JAKARTA - Along with the ongoing construction of the Formula E circuit, Regional-owned Enterprises (BUMD) PT Jakarta Propertindo as the organizer has prepared at least 10 thousand spectator seats. In fact, previously disclosed this electric car racing event can accommodate 50 thousand spectators.

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, revealed two reasons why the Formula E audience seats were reduced. According to him, the problem of the pandemic and the limited area in the Ancol area were factors in reducing the number of seats.

"It has to be adjusted. It's still a pandemic issue, maybe. Second, is the location possible. So, it must be adjusted to the existing place," Riza told reporters, quoted on Monday, March 28.

Riza admitted that when the number of spectator seats provided was reduced, automatically the income from the Formula E event through ticket sales also decreased.

Therefore, continued Riza, Jakpro will re-adjust the revenue potential by getting more profit from Formula E sponsors.

"If ticket payments are reduced, so, where are the other opportunities? Maybe from sponsors. The committee must of course count the positives and negatives. I think they have been calculated. All decisions made by the committee, I think it's the best possible," said Riza.

For information, currently, the progress of paving the electric car racing circuit from zones 1 to 5 has reached 87 percent. The workers are still working on the second layer of the asphalt circuit.

Based on a report received from Jakpro, a member of the Gerindra faction of the DKI DPRD, Syarif said that the audience seats will be installed with a minimum number of 10 seats.

"This is being reviewed again considering the crowd situation of the audience. The minimum estimate (number of spectator seats) is 10 thousand," said Syarif when met at the Formula E circuit location, some time ago.

In fact, previously the Chief Executive of Formula E, Ahmad Sahroni, had targeted that Formula E, which was held on June 4, 2022, could be watched live by up to 50 thousand spectators.
