After The Capital Moves, Deputy Governor Riza Optimistic Of Jakarta Entering The World Metropolitan City Orbit

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared a road map for development from 2022 to 2026. This road map follows up on the plan to move the capital city from Jakarta to the Capital City of Archipelago (IKN).

Riza said the visions and missions of Jakarta in the future after releasing the status of the capital city of Indonesia to be included in the orbit of the world's metropolitan city. Which, can compete with major cities across the country.

"After no longer being the nation's capital, not only making Jakarta a city in Indonesia, but also being in the orbit of the world's metropolitan cities. Jakarta's rivals are no longer other cities in Indonesia. Jakarta's rivals in the future will be Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Washington, Sydney, and others," said Riza in a virtual discussion, Wednesday, March 23.

The future of Jakarta after the relocation of the capital city, according to Riza, must be used as an opportunity to become a more advanced city, especially as a business and economic center.

Riza said, as a business center, Jakarta will always be a city that will always be visited by people from all over the country, even world tourists. This will also increase the contribution of the national gross domestic product (GDP).

"With all its advantages, especially in the economic sector, relocating the nation's capital can actually be read as a great opportunity for Jakarta to play an important role, especially as an economic and business center, both on a national and global scale," he explained.

Deputy Governor Riza said that currently the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, together with experts and various elements, are drafting an academic draft of a bill on the specifics of Jakarta.

"This bill accommodates as a legal umbrella for the interests of Jakarta to become a better city after it is no longer the nation's capital," he added.
