BANDUNG - The Directorate of Drug Investigation of the West Java Police thwarted an attempt to smuggle around one tonne of crystal methamphetamine at 14.00 WIB in the waters of Pangandaran Regency, West Java, today.
Director of Drug Investigation of the West Java Police, Commissioner Johannes Manalalu, said that five suspects were arrested, one of whom is a foreign citizen (WNA).
"There are 66 sacks containing boxes of Tupperware and packages of clear duct tape which are suspected to contain methamphetamine with a rough calculation of approximately 1,000 kilograms gross", he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 16.
The four suspects have the initials DH, HH, AH, NS, and M who are foreigners, and all of them have been detained by the police. "They are strongly suspected of being involved in the crime of possession of the methamphetamine type of narcotics", he said.
According to him, the one-tonne methamphetamine was found hidden in the boat. The methamphetamine, he said, was wrapped in sacks after being transported from traditional fishing vessels in international waters.
