JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has succeeded in exposing the practice of making fake oil in Penjaringan, North Jakarta. From these findings, the perpetrator with the initials RP was arrested.

Gatot explained that the perpetrators initially purchased raw materials for oil in drums with a capacity of 200 liters from a company. Then the material is transferred to a new empty oil bottle, then a sticker is affixed according to the color and trademark.

"After the bottles are filled with oil and the caps are numbered, after the bottles are filled with oil and closed, they are put into boxes according to the trademark to be packaged and marketed," he said. However, it is not explained where this fake oil is marketed.

"The perpetrator also does not have cooperation with the owners of the registered oil brand, and the oil sold by the perpetrator also does not comply with the quality standards of the oil listed on the label on the oil bottle," he continued.

To make fake oil, the perpetrators need raw materials for oil in five working days as many as 1.800 bottles or as many as 75 drums. Thus, the total need for raw materials is 15.000 liters.

"With the perpetrator's capital of around IDR 400 million to IDR 500 million for the needs for three weeks. So that in 1 week it requires a capital of around IDR 100 million to IDR 200 million with the profit from selling fake oil in 5 working days of around IDR 75 million," said Gatot.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 62 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 8 paragraph 1 letters a and e of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection and/or Article 100 paragraph (1) of Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Marks and Indications Geographical.
