Ash From Coal Company Makes Marunda Residents Get ISPA And Itching, DKI Provincial Government Prepares Sanctions

JAKARTA - The Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, said that his party will impose sanctions on companies that are strongly suspected of being the perpetrators of coal dust pollution that is spreading in the Marunda area, North Jakarta.

"Currently we are preparing sanctions, yes", said Asep in a short message, Monday, March 14.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, said that the sanctions for the company with the initials KCN will be given after the process of proving the environmental impact analysis.

To minimize the problem of environmental pollution from spreading again, Riza asked the community to report their complaints.

"Jakarta residents who have complaints, anyone, later the relevant agencies will check or supervise, evaluate, even take action for anyone who violates it", said Riza at the DKI Regional House of Representatives Building.

For information, Marunda residents have felt coal dust pollution since 2018. This coal dust often hits residential areas, schools, and even the RPTRA in Marunda.

In his findings, a member of the PDIP faction of the DKI Regional House of Representatives Jhonny Simanjuntak received a report that this problem has shown the health effects of Marunda residents, ranging from respiratory problems or ARI, skin diseases such as itching, to damage to the eyes.

Therefore, Jhonny demanded the DKI Provincial Government to act to stop the spread of coal dust, accompanied by an examination of the company regarding its environmental impact and the sanctions to be applied.

"I demand that the DKI Provincial Government immediately stop the spread of coal dust in Marunda. Don't let any more fly around. Then, there is an analysis or study of the Amdal from this company. If there is a violation, there must be sanctions", he said.
